Martin E. Hanaka became the Chairman of the Board in April 2007. Mr. Hanaka has served as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of The Sports Authority, Inc. since June 2004. Mr. Hanaka was the Chairman of the Board of the Sports Authority from November 1999 until June 2004 and was its Chief Executive Officer from September 1998 until August 2003. Mr. Hanaka joined the Sports Authority's Board of Directors in February 1998. Mr. Hanaka is also a director of Sports Authority and Brightstar Corporation, a wireless wholesale distributor.
Mr. Allen was founder, and since 1982 has served as Managing Director, of Redding Consultants. His experience combines extensive management with over twenty years of consulting with McKinsey & Company, Inc. and Redding Consultants. His non-consulting experience includes having been Senior Vice President of Emery Worldwide (overnight airfreight) where he was responsible for international operations and U.S. sales and marketing. Previous to this, he served as Chief Marketing Officer of Genesco, Inc. (footwear, specialty retailing and apparel). Early in his career, Mr. Allen worked for Hans Schwartzkopf GmbH (personal care products) and Liggett and Myers (liquors and tobacco).
Mr. Allen serves on the Board of J. Roberts and Son, a UK manufacturer of luxury goods. He is also a former Board member of EDO Corporation, a defense contractor, Pioneer Companies, Inc., a manufacturer of Chlor Alkali and related products, Bic Corporation, an international consumer goods company and Goodwin Biotechnology, a manufacturer of monoclonal antibodies. As a Board member, he has served for over fifteen years on various Audit Committees and has been the Chairman of three Special Committees (Sale/Merger), two Compensation Committees, and one Governance and Nominating Committee.
Thomas A. Berglund has been a Managing Director of First Atlantic Capital, Ltd. since 2004. Prior to joining First Atlantic Capital, Ltd. Mr. Berglund had been a partner at Jupiter Partners, a middle-market private equity firm serving as a partner from 1999 to 2004 and as vice president from 1994 until 1999. He is currently a director of Precision Parts International and BHM Technologies, Inc.
Roberto Buaron became a director in October 2002. Mr. Buaron has been the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of First Atlantic Capital since he founded the firm in 1989. From 1986 to 1989, Mr. Buaron was a senior partner with Overseas Partners Inc., a New York middle market private equity firm. From 1983 to 1986, Mr. Buaron was a First Vice President of First Century, Inc., and a general partner of its venture capital affiliate, First Century Partnership. Prior to joining First Century, Mr. Buaron was a partner of McKinsey & Company, Inc. During his nine-year tenure at McKinsey, Mr. Buaron counseled senior management at a number of Fortune 500 companies on improving their strategic position and operating performance.
Glenda Chamberlain became a director in August 2006 and is a member of the audit committee. Ms. Chamberlain has been the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Whole Foods Market, Inc. since 1988, and prior to that held various positions in public accounting, retail and businesses consulting. She is a financial expert that also serves on the board of directors, the compensation committee and audit committee for Credit Acceptance Corporation.
James Grover became a director in October 2002. Mr. Grover has been a principal at First Atlantic Capital since May 2004, and prior to that served as a Vice President with First Atlantic Capital from August 2000 until May 2004 and as an associate with First Atlantic Capital from July 1998 until August 2000. Prior to joining First Atlantic Capital in 1998, Mr. Grover was an associate and business analyst at New York Consulting Partners, Inc.
Thomas Hardy became a director in October 2002. Mr. Hardy has served as an Operating Partner for an affiliate of First Atlantic Capital since August 2004. Mr. Hardy has been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Paris since May 2003 and a member of the Advisory Board of Main Street Resources, a private equity fund specializing in small and medium sized management buy-outs since May 2002. In 1985, Mr. Hardy was one of the founders of Trans Resources, Inc., a multinational manufacturer and distributor of chemicals and fertilizers, serving as its President and Chief Operating Officer from 1993 to 2000. From 1969 to 1984, Mr. Hardy was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company Inc., serving as partner from 1976 to 1984.
Marvin E. Lesser became a director and chairman of the audit committee in June 2006 upon the closing of Golfsmith's initial public offer. Mr. Lesser co-founded Sigma Partners, L.P., a private investment partnership, in 1993 and has been the Managing Partner there since then. Since 2000, Mr. Lesser has been President of Alpina Management, L.L.C., the investment advisor to St. Moritz 2000 Fund, Ltd., a private investment fund for non-U.S. persons, as well as a director of St. Moritz 2000 Fund, Ltd. Since 1993, Mr. Lesser has served as a director of USG Corporation and, since 2001 as a director of Pioneer Companies, Inc. From 1989 to 1994, Mr. Lesser was a Managing Partner of Cillufo Associates, L.P. and, from 1986 to 1988, was a Senior Vice-President of Bessemer Securities Corporation. From 1983 to 1986 and since 1992, Mr. Lesser has also been a private consultant, periodically providing financial, compensation-related and organizational consulting services. From 1971 to 1983, Mr. Lesser worked at McKinsey & Company, Inc., where he became the Director of Finance in 1973 and a Senior Partner in 1981.
James Long became a director in October 2002. Mr. Long has been a Senior Advisor to First Atlantic Capital since January 1, 2005 and has been a Managing Director at First Atlantic Capital since 1991. Prior to joining First Atlantic Capital, Mr. Long was a managing director at Kleinwort Benson North America. From 1975 to 1989, Mr. Long was an Executive Vice President of Mergers, Acquisitions and Strategic Planning at Primerica Corporation (formerly American Can Company). From 1970 to 1975, Mr. Long was director of acquisitions for The Sperry and Hutchinson Company.
Mr. Pedroni became a director at the Company's Annual Meeting on May 5, 2009. Mr. Pedroni has been a principal of First Atlantic Capital, Ltd. since 2003. From 1999 to 2003, Mr. Pedroni was an engagement manager in the corporate finance and strategy group at McKinsey & Company, consulting to leading companies on corporate development (organic and through acquisitions), capital structure and organizational design. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Pedroni was an executive director at CIBC World Markets, where he delivered investment and corporate banking solutions to the transportation, aerospace and defense industries. He previously worked as an associate in the Corporate Finance department at The Chase Manhattan Bank, assisting companies on a variety of merger and acquisitions, equity, debt and restructuring transactions. Mr. Pedroni received a graduate degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy in 1993.
